New £96m development creates an international centre for engineering and physical sciences on the University of Leeds campus.
For the first time, engineering, physics, astronomy, and computing will be integrated in one building, enabling cutting-edge research and collaboration. The development forms part of a £520m investment by the University and will make it a world-leading research base.
One of the project’s planning challenges was securing consent to extend the Grade II listed Old Mining Institute to create the new centre.
With permission now secured, construction will begin in 2017.
