Over the course of a decade, we advised on proposals for the UK’s first tri-modal (sea, road and rail) inland port, a £400m project which runs alongside the Manchester Ship Canal.

Port Salford responds to a national drive to shift freight transport away from roads to rail and waterways, producing more workable, economical and sustainable solutions for regional distribution.

The project needed a complex planning strategy, taking on board its environmental impact. As well as coordinating and managing hybrid planning applications, we organised a major public exhibition to respond to a range of local issues.

Construction began in 2013.
