Restoration of an underground WWII air raid shelter and conversion of a concrete rotunda, at the south-east corner of Clapham Common, to create a café and exhibition space.

The rotunda forms the entrance to London’s last remaining deep-level air raid shelter, set within a network of tunnels. Inaccessible to the public since the 1950s, it had developed an unsavoury character.

We secured consent to turn it into a viable working asset, allowing for public tours of the shelter and protecting it for future generations.

Tours commenced in 2016 and are very popular.
